Weather, rain LIVE Updates: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall and hailstorm over Northwest India on Monday (October 6).

The IMD issued an orange alert for seven states, predicting heavy rains on October 6. The weather warning has been issued for Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.

Isolated hailstorm activity has been recorded over West Rajasthan,” the IMD said.

Cyclone Shakti update

In an update on Monday, Oct 6, the IMD said the Cyclonic storm “Shakhti” [pronunciation: Shakhti] “is likely to move east-southeastwards over the westcentral and adjoining northwest Arabian Sea and weaken into a depression by the morning of 7th October.”

According to IMD, states across Northwest India are expected to witness a dramatic fall in minimum temperatures by 4 to 5 degrees Celsius from October 8.
